The VoSmart (V-Smart) Valve (Variable Orifice Selective Monitored Artificial Recharge Throttle Valve) is a hydraulically actuated near linear flow control device that permits the operator to adjust the flow rate using PLC/SCADA control system.
Applications
The V-Smart Valve functions quite efficiently in Artificial Storage and Recovery or ASR Wells in conjunction with a submersible or vertical turbine pump. The valve may be used with Water Banking Wells, Injection Wells, Sea Water Barrier Wells, Vadose Zone Wells and Ground Water Remediation Wells, or other applications requiring linear flow control. Unique design features provide this valve with cavitation-free operation.

Elimination of Cascading Water
At startup and during recharge, the valve is set in the closed position allowing the drop pipe to fill with water. The air in the pipe is evacuated through an air-vacuum valve at the well head ensuring the elimination of cascading water.

Elimination of Air Entrainment
Air entrainment in recharge or injection wells leads to air fouling of the formation, increased bio-fouling and calcite formation along with the costs of well rehabilitation. The correct operation of this valve effectively eliminates air entrainment.

Near Linear Flow Control
The recharge rate may be set using a manual or electric hydraulic control valve with local and/or SCADA control. Flow may be adjusted using a null loop, a dead band, a magnetic flow meter and the dynamic water level along with a PLC to control the water flow through the "D" ports for near linear control.

Shock Reduction
The VoSmart Valve is designed to smoothly start a recharge well, adjust the flow linearly, place the water into the formation gently under laminar conditions.

Applications
The VoSmart Valve functions quite effectively in a variety of applications. When used with a vertical turbine pump the valve is placed between the pump bowls and the foot valve below the pump and above the check valve and strainer. An application that allows for cogeneration with proper bowl and motor/generator configuration. With a submersible pump the valve is placed above the pump and check valve. In a dedicate recharge well the valve is placed at the bottom of the drop pipe using a blind flange.

Flow Ranges
The VoSmart Valve may be sized to meet the specific design requirement. We recommend a flow rate available at the well head of 120% of the desired recharge flow rate and a residual pressure of 20-30 or more PSI. @Wellhead. Sizes are 4-in. 0-760 GPM, 6-in. 0-1790 GPM, 8-in. 0-3640 GPM, and 12-in. 0-5935 GPM, at dynamic water level 100 feet below land surface.

Valve Materials
All the metal parts of the valve are of stainless steel.

The VoV (Variable Orifice Valve) is a hydraulically actuated near linear flow control device that permits the operator to adjust the flow rate using PLC/SCADA control system.
Applications
The VoV functions quite efficiently in Artificial Storage and Recharge (ASR), Dedicated Artificial Recharge, Injection, Pump and Treat Wells, Sea Water Barrier, Vadose Zone Wells and Ground Water Remediation Wells, along with other applications requiring near linear flow control. Unique design features provide this valve with cavitation-free operation.

Elimination of Cascading Water and Cavitation
In wells, the VoV is set just above the well screen, at startup the valve is set in the closed position (closed or 20-30 GPM flow) allowing the drop pipe to fill with water. The air in the pipe is evacuated through an air-vacuum valve at the well head.

Near Linear Flow Control
The recharge rate may be set using a manual or electric hydraulic control valve with local and/or PLC/SCADA control and the dynamic water level during recharge.

Elimination of Air Entrainment
Air entrainment in recharge or injection wells leads to air fouling of the formation, increased bio-fouling and calcite formation along with the costs of well rehabilitation.

Full Closure or Trickle Flow
The VoV is designed to provide full closure or trickle flow to maintain the bubble of recharge water in the formation.

Shock Reduction
The VoV is designed to smoothly start the recharge well then adjust the flow, to a given set point and place the water into the formation gently.

Flow Ranges
The VoV may be sized to meet the specific design requirement. Sizes are 3-in. 0-170 GPM, 4-in. 0-640 GPM, 6-in. 0-980 GPM, 8-in. 0-1700 GPM, and 12-in. 0-2650 GPM with dynamic water level 100 feet below land surface in standard configurations.

Valve Materials
The functioning metal parts of the valve, i.e. the orifice plate, tapered piston, straightening vanes and bushing for the hydraulic actuator are made of Stainless Steel.
